Cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase has announced that it will not comply with a request from the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to provide details of its customers’ transactions, including those involving Bitcoin. The SEC sent a Wells notice to Coinbase in September as part of its investigation into possible breaches of securities law. However, the exchange has stated that the SEC’s request is “unreasonable” and could harm its customers’ privacy. Coinbase is preparing to go public via a direct listing on Nasdaq, which could value the company at $100 billion.
